2018 Spiritual Study Session: “How to Live” – Words from the Kami

Kami:

Good morning.

It’s good that you were able to spend an enjoyable time.

This too is part of your time in the present world.

Cherish it well.

You all got along and had fun.

You enjoyed delicious food.

This is a privilege granted only because you are living in the present world.

In such times, enjoy them wholeheartedly.

Now, the time from here on is different.

This kind of turning point is also something to cherish.

Why do you study?

Why have you all gathered in this way?

Why did the word “turning point” come up today?

A turning point means change.

Because there are turning points, growth can occur.

Some may also call it “setting a boundary.”

Through this turning point, you must change your own flow.

Make it a meaningful time.

Why do you have to study?

Why has this one hour been given to you?

Do not waste it.

Engrave it in your heart.

Now then, I look forward to hearing your conversations.

Please proceed.

Kami of Mount Ōyama:

I’ve listened to all of your thoughts.

Even if nothing is spoken, the answers are already known.

However, it is important that you gradually become able to express what’s inside you in front of your companions.

Do not be ashamed of your own shame.

Do not consider your own ugliness to be disgraceful.

That is your true nature.

You are human after all.

Because you are human, you were born with such traits.

If you consider something shameful, then truly accept it.

But do not live in a way that creates shame.

Unless you recognize your own shame, you will never be able to overcome it.

As long as you do not understand your own ugliness, you can never move forward from it.

You are still too soft.

You are still in that position.

Recognize how deeply you hold onto what is ugly.

Reveal more of it.

If you are companions, there is no need to be ashamed.

Expose your ugliness.

If you can’t do that, you still have a long way to go.

You cannot dwell in a pure place.

Why do you have this limited time?

To learn.

You made a promise.

A promise to resolve your karmic debts.

If you do not awaken to this, you will never achieve resolution.

This is something that must be done in the course of daily life, in the present world.

Only in the present world can this be accomplished.

You have been given precious time.

If you do not make use of this time, then when will you?

When you return to your true spiritual home, you won’t be able to do anything.

You will not be able to resolve anything.

The outcome—what you must become—has already been determined.

Only now can it be done.

That’s why this time is so important.

Understand this.

Only now can you act.

No matter how much you regret it later, you won’t be able to.

Once you return to the spirit world.

Get serious.

Now.

There are many ancestors.

Many connected souls.

Unless these people move forward, the present world will remain unchanged.

If you care about your descendants, about those connected to you, then you must learn.

To learn is something only those in the present world can do.

Live with integrity in the present world.

To elevate yourself, you must enter into practice (gyou).

That is why there is daily spiritual discipline.

Everything is connected.

Everything has meaning.

So each day is important.

Each and every day matters.

Time is granted equally to all.

How will you live?

That is the question you must answer yourself.

You are still able to study like this.

Awaken your soul.

You are being given this environment.

It’s not something difficult.

Accept it and be grateful for it.

It is nothing but a precious time.

When you wake in the morning, your day should begin with “I am allowed to do this.”

Do not just pass time!

If you are going to set a boundary, then live your time with the awareness that “I am allowed to do this.”

Then, you will naturally come to realize the truth of what you’ve been told.

You will notice it.

Live a life that brings awareness.

You will surely notice.

Whether that happens in the infinite time after death or during your limited time now—that’s the difference.

If you notice it during your limited time, something can still be done.

If you notice it in the infinite time, it will only bring regret.

Eventually, you will understand.

So everything is your own responsibility.

It all comes back to you.

That is what karma is—only what you yourself have created.

Not what others caused.

Even everything related to you was created by you.

That’s why you have worries, anxiety, suffering, and boredom.

All of that is for the sake of realization.

Your physical ailments—those too are for your awareness.

If you want to resolve it, how much time will you devote?

How will you think about it?

How will you live?

As the new year approaches, what will you make of this turning point?

How you live—that is something only you can answer.

You still have time to study like this.

So learn as much as you can.

There’s no point in talking endlessly.

Live your present life with a clear boundary.

Soon, all of you will return to infinite time.

Just how precious this limited time is—how truly blessed it is—

Let that sink into your being.

Then, you will no longer waste your time.

Switch to a way of living where every moment has meaning.

That’s what I ask of you.

You are still soft.

That much is certain.

That’s your current position.

The time left is growing shorter.

I hear you talked about physical stamina.

Take care of your physical body.

Keep maintaining it until the very day you return to this world.

You can do it.

If you have the will.

If you have the will, your body will hold up.

If you don’t, it will go the way of your will.

That is the kind of life you have chosen.

You understand?

It’s all up to you.

No one else.

Everything returns to you.

Keep that engraved in your heart.

There are those who can hear.

You understand?

There are those who can hear this.

You are blessed.

This invisible world is your true world.

Return with dignity.

Live in that way.

Time is short—very short now.

Go-Chi Nyorai (The Five Wisdom Buddhas):

Thank you for your efforts.

Very good.

You can see how many people from the present world are here, can you not?

And through your studies, you’ve learned that there are also many you cannot see.

Can you imagine how many that might be?

Can you fathom how many are striving to become aware and to learn?

Whether you can imagine it or not is not what matters.

Whether the number is large or small is not what matters.

If there are a million people here, then there are a million unique individuals.

Each one is different.

You understand this, don’t you?

It’s the same in the present world.

Even if people share the same direction or aim with similar hearts,

everyone is still different.

And this remains true even after death.

Everyone is different.

Can you become aware of the hearts of each and every one of them?

Among them, the ones who descend to convey what is most important to you right now—those are your ancestors.

They may also be spirits connected to you.

And of course, in some cases, they may even be deities.

But let me make this clear:

Just because someone descends to you, it doesn’t necessarily mean they are who you believe they are.

When the thoughts and emotions of the living are too strong, they can distort the truth and shape it into what they desire.

That is why, next to the Go-Chi Nyorai, there must be an intermediary guiding the spirit path,

and unless that person is righteous, it will lead to deception.

Please do not misunderstand this.

No matter how often someone “descends,” it is not necessarily that person.

This is where deception takes root.

It happens when one's ego is too strong.

That’s why purification is needed,

and why it is essential to live humbly as one who is undergoing spiritual training each day.

Having completed the Five Practices of Training does not guarantee righteousness.

Everything is interconnected.

Do you understand?

Only when there is someone who can correctly receive the message can the righteous beings truly descend.

Sometimes, there may be discrepancies.

That depends on how strong the ego is.

Even then, the intermediary must be discerning and receive the message for what it is.

That is extremely important.

Because it is the deities who prepare the environment for these messages.

With that in mind, we simply proceed with discernment and humility.

To become someone who can welcome that which is truly right and most important to you—

that is why your daily life is so important.

Understand this well.

The Five Practices alone are not everything.

It is about your daily demeanor, your daily thoughts.

If your ego is too strong, you may receive the wrong messages.

Therefore, nothing is simple.

Let us all become people who can truly receive what is right.

That is what I hope for you.
