Dr. Miho's Conversation with Dr. Miho (Why we greet the gods and Buddha)
Dr.
Miho, do you always greet the gods and Buddha?
If possible, I would like you to do it in the morning and at night, but it is okay if you do it only in the morning or only at
night.
Dr.
Miho
I don't.
Why do you have to greet the gods and Buddha?
Miho, I don't understand.
Dr.
Then let's think of a day as if it were a human life.
Let's think of the morning when we wake up and begin our activities as “birth” and the night when we lie down to sleep after a long day as "death.
Then we know that we are given “life” every day!
Living one day at a time is a miracle itself!
Miho
I see. I had never thought about it before, but I guess if you look at it differently, it changes the way you think.
But, what does God and Buddha have to do with miracles?
Dr.
So, Miho, who is it that gives us “life”?
Miho
animals or nature?
But then, that has nothing to do with God!
Dr.
Then who controls the seasons?
Is it people? Animals? The environment? Or insects?
Why do the seasons come and go every year?
Miho
Eh! The seasons come and go because the earth rotates. Is it the universe that controls it?
Dr.
Then why doesn't the earth's rotation stay the same at a constant speed?
There are many reasons that can be given, but in the end, it is thanks to God's power.
Miho
Really? It's all thanks to God, isn't it?
It is true that there are many things in the world that cannot be explained by logic or words!
So, what else does God do for us?
Dr.
Miho, you have a different way of thinking.
You don't mean “does for us”, you mean "does for us.
By the way, God's basic job is to protect the earth.
His job is to change the temperature, to make it rain, and to give people trials and tribulations!
By the way, don't you have ancestors too, Miho?
Miho
Of course I do!
But what does that have to do with greetings?
Dr.
has a lot to do with it!
Our ancestors are protecting and guiding us.
That is why we must greet them to express our gratitude and pledge to repay their favors!
I know this is out of the blue, but I have a problem with you, Miho!
What would Miho say to the gods and Buddha?
Miho,
Right?
Miho would say, "Good morning. Please help me if I have any difficulties or hardships. Please take care of me.
Dr.
That's not good enough!
As I said before, it is my job to give you trials, not to help you.
So, I say this!
In the morning, I say, "Thank you for giving me life. In the evening, we say, "Thank you for using this day for the sake of the world. At night, we say, “Thank you for using your life for the world.”
Miho
Your life is valuable only when you use it for the world.
It is important to make your family, school, workplace, and other people you have a connection with happy!
Dr.
Of course, that is important, but the most important thing is to actually put it into action!
Anyone can understand by mouth or knowledge alone.
However, there are many things that cannot be understood without actually taking action!
If you spend your days in this way, each day will become more and more fulfilling.

● Think of a day as a person's entire life. We can think of the morning when we wake up and begin our activities as “birth” and the night when we finish our day and go to sleep as "death.
We are given “life” every day.
What kind of being gives us “life”?
A living being? Animals? Plants? Parents? Various things may come to mind.
Well, the bottom line is God.
God controls the climate and weather.
And our ancestors protect and guide us.
Therefore, we should be thankful and grateful to repay them for their kindness.
When we greet the gods and ancestors, let us do so with the following in mind.
In the morning, I vow, "Thank you for giving me life. Please use it for the good of the world.
In the evening, we should say, "Thank you for using your life for the sake of the world.
Needless to say, it is important to do more than just say the words.
We should use the product to please our family members and those we have a relationship with at school, work, and other places.
In repeating such a daily routine, each day will become more and more fulfilling.
