Various Galaxies (the Greater Universe)
1. Kurume Suitengū Shrine (Kurume, Kōriyama City)
Deity:
“We have been awaiting your arrival. Thank you for fulfilling your sacred duty.We are truly delighted that you have entered this place once again in this way.Even more deities have now gathered here. Please extend your heartfelt intention to them as well. Many spirits are already prostrating in reverence. Please, bestow your compassion upon them.”
Reply:
“Thank you very much. I have received your heartfelt intention.I accept this divine duty with gratitude. From this moment forward, I shall participate in all gyou (spiritual communion acts),and I will transport those who are able to move.Although many are still observing from afar and are bound to the wheel of reincarnation,I pledge to fulfill this role until they are all guided into the realm of learning.I humbly ask for your continued guidance.”
Note:Suitengū’s deity governs life itself, being the guardian of water, the very essence of both the planet and the human body.Offering gratitude to the life we are given is a central principle of this shrine.
2. Unakiro Wake Jinja Shrine (Mihotamachi, Kōriyama City)
Deity:
“We have been awaiting your arrival.Thank you, as always, for coming. We are especially grateful that you have once again returned. There is no greater joy. Many deities have also arrived. Please allow us to receive your intentions. We are grateful for your presence.”
Reply:
“Thank you.I have received your intention. And once again, this intention enables us to guide many souls. Please continue to refine yourself and proceed with diligence. We shall move together from here onward.I ask for your continued guidance.”
Spirit Elevation Ceremony:
“Preparations are already complete. May we receive your directions?”
“We have brought forth many spirits for this sacred duty. Will you guide all of them?”
“Good. This is the opportunity given to you. But remember—this chance comes only once. The path will be shown by those in this world. Follow that direction, all of you. There shall be no second chance. Proceed.”
“We accept the divine duty.We shall now guide all the spirits gathered here. Please, come forward.”
3. Niida Shrine (Niida, Sukagawa City)
Deity:
“So you have come. We have been waiting for this. Let me make this clear. Those of you who have arrived—listen carefully. This is not someone else’s story. It is yours. It was you who turned this land into a sea of fire.Did you come here with that understanding? The spirits kneeling in supplication here are consumed by an overwhelming burden of remorse. What about you, still alive in this world?Your intentions are still insufficient.Your ancestors carried out such grave acts in order to connect you to this world. This is not someone else’s doing—it was you. That is why you exist now.And that is why you must apologize. If you do not come with this understanding, you will lose the purpose of your visit.Remember this well.To unravel karma is to apologize together with your ancestors.Engrave this within you.If you don’t know why you came, your journey is in vain.”
Reply:
“Thank you.May you continue to pursue learning. You must keep learning.Without it, there is no purpose to the connection you’ve received.Learn—and fulfill your role.Accomplish what must be done. That is how you unravel karma.Unravel karma and take action in consideration of others to forge the future. That is why you have been granted life.Do what only the living can do.The deities have been observing you from this very perspective from the beginning. That is what a guardian ujigami truly is.All the ancestral guardian deities have gathered here. Each one holds the same intention. Now then, I shall accept this role. From this moment on, I will participate in all acts of gyou. And for the spirits who are watching, I shall continue this sacred role, even if it takes all the time within the cycle of reincarnation, until they are guided into the world of learning.I humbly ask for your continued guidance.”
Note:
The number of torii gates here reflects a long history of accumulated karmic cycles—acts committed and received over time.
The land is ancient.
The site once became a sea of fire.
Hachiman—a place of war rituals and prayers.
4. Yazawa Shrine (Yazawa, Sukagawa City)
Deity:
“Thank you for your efforts. We have been waiting for your arrival. There is no greater joy than to see you enter this land. You are likely aware of how deeply defiled this place is.This is not a place where a simple apology is enough for forgiveness.
We rejoice that the ujiko (local shrine parishioners) have awakened and can now be involved in this way.We are only just beginning. We are far from sufficient, but we earnestly seek your guidance.
As mentioned just now—repenting for the sins committed—this is a chance given over a span of 2,000 years.Understand this truth: unless one repents, not even a single step forward can be taken. What must not be done, must never be done. Do you understand? What must not be done, must never be done.
Live righteously. If sins are not atoned for, they will be passed down to future generations, and your descendants will be unable to move freely.
Once you realize this, learn within the grace of these connections and approach this with a perspective of unraveling karma.Reflect on how precious this time truly is.Consider the meaning of time itself.I ask for your continued efforts.”
5. Yokomiyajinja Shrine (Kitayokota, Sukagawa City)
Deity:
“Thank you very much. I am truly delighted that you’ve come all the way to this sacred place. We have long awaited your arrival. At last, you have come. Thank you, truly.
Now, we ask that you offer your sincere thoughts.”
Reply:
“It is nothing of great consequence. Thank you deeply. And the reconnection with the ujiko—there is no greater joy than this. However, reconnection alone is not enough. With it comes the responsibility to learn and fulfill your roles.Without this, the land cannot return to its original sacred state.
Please offer your guidance so that the meaning of this reconnection may be rightly understood. Many deities are here now, and even the Kannon have arrived; preparations are complete. We humbly ask for your direction.
I have received the divine duty. Please guide all these souls gathered here.I leave this to your care.”
Spirit Elevation:
“How fortunate—you’ve been granted a memorial offering. This is your chance. But remember: this is a once-in-a-lifetime opportunity. There won’t be another.Make the most of this chance. The living will lead you.Understood? Then we leave it in your hands.Thank you very much.We look forward to the growth of the ujiko.Truly, thank you.”
6. Furumine Shrine (Minamikamichō, Sukagawa City)
Deity:
(Context: The importance of intention behind preparing food—if made with care, it will nourish others warmly; if rushed, that haste is transmitted.)
“We have been awaiting your arrival. That is exactly right. One day, when you too arrive in this world, you will understand. So remember it now.
To enter the world of thought is to be immersed in your own intentions. Are you living with warmth, or with ugliness? All answers reside within yourself.
Learn, correct yourself, and dedicate your time toward growth.Time is precious. The time you have with a physical body is your training period.
And that training, at its core, is meant to be austere practice. But few enjoy austerity.Without it, you live a half-formed life.
These are thoughts I have gained while watching you.I express them now through words.Let your practice begin.”
Reply:
“Thank you very much.Through the correct intention you’ve given us, I now convey the will of the gods.
From this moment, I shall participate in all acts of gyou. And I will fulfill my duty to carry as many spirits as possible to the world of learning.
That means, from now on, we will always be together. To walk with the divine is to walk together as one.I ask for your continued guidance and support.”
7. Otakiya Shrine (Suwamachi, Sukagawa City)
Deity:
“Thank you. Please be welcome at our feet. Many gods and even numerous Kannon have come here today.Do not forget the souls who are bowing their heads here in submission. We ask for your continued guidance and mindfulness.”
Response:
“Thank you very much.It is precisely because of the sincerity of this intention that we are able to renew our divine duties. Many of our ujiko (parishioners) are involved, but their devotion is still insufficient.Although each generation has produced powerful individuals, their potential has yet to be realized.
The hearts of those involved are still lacking.Their ancestors have yet to attain spiritual growth. It is our wish that they gain more opportunities to learn and be involved. This is the heartfelt desire of the ancestors.
I am here to convey that thought:Where should that strength be directed? The power originally held must be used for the sake of the region, for the world, and for the people.I sincerely ask that this strength be guided in the right direction and that you continue to offer us your divine instruction.”
8. Hie Shrine (Nishikawa, Sukagawa City)
Deity:
“We’ve been waiting for you. This is a message for the human world.
Listen carefully:Being born as a human means your primary role is to unravel your own karma. You exist to fulfill that promise.Because that duty is neglected, various troubles arise.
You chose to return in order to fulfill that role, did you not?
When you stray from that path, signs and warnings appear.Misaligned thinking leads to corrective signs. These consequences do not stop with yourself—they appear in your children, your family, your relatives.
Why?Because all of you collectively bear the sins of your ancestors.
It is simple. What you have done, only you can undo.Being born into this world means each of you bears the responsibility to correct it.
The fact that you've connected means your ancestors worked desperately to form this bond.Yet, you still fail to grasp the depth of their desire.
Though you've reconnected, you haven’t fulfilled your role.If you continue like this, the time will come when you will regret it.
The human world, no matter the hardship, is easy in comparison. You must choose the path of austerity.Living with the gods requires it.
If you cannot embrace austerity, you cannot dissolve your karma.Sharpen your resolve and take on this gyou.Begin.”
Response:
“Thank you.I have received a profound intention from you, through the existence of humanity. Thanks to that, I am honored to now take on the divine mission.
I will participate in all acts of gyou from this moment onward. My duty is to lead the many souls who watch over us into a world of learning.
Even if the time required spans many cycles of reincarnation, I accept the role of guiding them to that world of learning. From now on, we walk together.
Please know this:We are always watching your actions. There is no other path but the righteous one.Now that we walk together, we ask that everything proceed in the right direction.
Let us continue together.Thank you.”
9. Kagenuma Shrine (Kagenuma Town, Sukagawa City)
Deity:
“We are deeply honored that you have come to this sacred ground. We’ve waited long for your arrival. Thank you.
There are many souls prostrated here in deep humility. While those capable of fully understanding their feelings are still far from true awakening,at least the opportunity to learn has finally arrived.
I hope you make the most of this connected chance.Otherwise, the desperate efforts of your ancestors—who sought, struggled, and forged this bond—will have no meaning.
Please offer guidance so that the ujiko can fulfill their responsibilities.Let us now begin the gyou. I ask for your cooperation.”
Response:
“Thank you.The depth of the intention we’ve received is incomparable.
Of course, I will carry out my duties. Many gods and Kannon are already prepared for this mission.May we receive your instructions first?”
Spirit Elevation:
“I have received the divine duty. Please guide all of these many spirits.Thank you in advance.”
“You have all done well. This is your chance—your one and only chance. It will not come again.
Let the living guide you now.All of you, proceed in that direction. Understood?
Then, we ask you to begin.”
Final Statement:
“I have carried out my duty.Thank you for your efforts.”
🌫️ Commentary: Why Were Ancient Spirits in Kagenuma?
“Once buried, the souls could no longer rise. They had to descend to the very bottom of the swamp. They were buried away, unable to ascend again.Even when help was offered, helping meant risking the same fate.
Thus, people layered upon one another in silence. This formed the swamp. The older the soul, the deeper it lies.
Now that a spiritual ‘vent’ has opened, movement is finally possible.
In this place, survival instinct overtook compassion. To help others meant becoming a victim yourself.
That led to repeating the same sins against others.Resentment lingers here in abundance.
If this were merely war, winners and losers could accept the outcome. But this is not the case.
Here, the human heart was left behind. This land absorbed that grief.
Consider how profound the intent of memorialization must be.How desperately this land must be purified.
How many will awaken to that truth?
As long as people live here, and their descendants grow up here, they bear a responsibility to fulfill that role. That’s why they were born.
Will you offer guidance?
Let this place return to being sacred once more.Even if it is painful, try it—with that heartfelt intention.”
