WAKAKOTEI is a sanctuary of integrated stays, designed to weave the ancient Japanese principles of harmony (Chowa), gratitude, and mutual support into the fabric of daily life.

In Japan, the timeless wisdom of Yaoyorozu no Kami—the eight million gods—teaches us that the divine resides in all things.

At its heart, this philosophy is about absolute acceptance: finding a path forward where all coexist in perfect balance. To seek answers that allow humans, animals, and nature to thrive together—this is the very way of life we seek to remember.

The Origins of WAKAKOTEI

The name "WAKAKOTEI" embodies a universally shared philosophy: "Where there is a will, there is a way."

For instance, there is a proverb in the language of New Zealand's indigenous Māori people:

"He moana pukepuke e ekengia e te waka"

(Even a stormy ocean can be crossed by a waka / canoe.)

This proverb carries the wisdom that no matter how turbulent or challenging the waters of life may become, they can always be overcome with clear purpose and steadfast effort. Just as the Japanese saying Naseba naru—"Where there is a will, there is a way"—this proverb reflects an unwavering belief in human potential.
